Yes, requires a hose connected to the cold water line. It comes with a Y connector. It was simple to connect.

A hose has to be connected to water outlet to provide the steam function, is well worth the cost to get the hose and get connected. Would recommend!

You don't HAVE to hook up to water - but you'd be glad you did - it's an awesome function
