It does need a water hook up. Doesn't have to be hooked up to use the dryer though.

Normally, the same line the washing machine uses, just with a splitter that allows you to hook up dual hoses. However, the dryer will work if you decide to just plug it in.

However, if you choose not to connect a water supply line, the rest of the dryer features will function as normal. It is important to note that if you attempt to use one of the steam features without the water line connected, it could cause internal damage to the dryer. ^Jecca
