No, our cabinet is just 4 inches above the dryer and it's just fine.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.If they are installed side by side and are going to be completely enclosed in a cabinet, that is what the manual recommends. If they aren't completely enclosed it says it needs 72" of unobstructed air opening. It also shows a diagram of them stacked in a closet. In that case shows it a min clearance of 5" from the top of the dryer to the ceiling but it also shows vents in the closet door at the top and bottom of the door.
