“We have gas service to our dryer. If we get a new dryer with steam do we need to connect to a drain. Could we use the drain that the washer also uses? Do we need a separate water line, or can we get it from the water for the washer?”

You do need to connect to the water line. We just bought a splitter so that we could connect the washer and dryer to the same water line. You don’t need a separate water line.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The dryer does not have a drain but it to use the steam setting you will need to connect it to the cold water line of your washer. They have a Y connection that connects to the cold water line then splits to hook up the washer and dryer to it.
