It depends on two things: 1. The settings in your picture menu. 2. The content you're watching. You can change the settings in the TV to "Movie" mode, rather than "Dynamic", which is designed for brightly lit rooms. In other words, it's adjustable to your tastes, and you can change it for dark-room settings. Movies filmed in the outdoors with higher lighting will be different than some of the more recent Marvell Comics or war movies, where the filming is done in lower lighting. So while it may be "too much" with a bright movie in Dynamic settings, most people can find a satisfying combination of television settings for every movie that they can enjoy.
