• Hi Nan, If you would like to connect your TV to any external device such as a soundbar(unless it is Bluetooth capable), cable box, etc, then you will need an HDMI cable. Your TV can connect to your Wi-Fi without a cable and you can access streaming apps from there. ~Samsung Advisor

• It depends on what you need to hook up, but I didn't need an HDMI since all my connected devices are Bluetooth.
