Hi Geno! The TU8000 has a feature called Ambient Mode, which allows the TV to display images or background themes, so you do not have a large black rectangle distracting from the look of your room when the TV is not in use. You can turn your sleeping TV into art, photo gallery or information center and more depending on your moods and needs. ^Gina
