Using an SSD as a boot driver is VERY doable. But you need sufficient capacity to run the OS and applications. Consider getting at 1 Tb SSD for about $100 or a 2Tb SSD for about $200. You can then clone your existing your existing HDD, install the SSD, and set your SSD as the boot drive. Samsung has their own cloning tools, Corsair has a great SSD cloning kit, and there are freeware SSD cloining tools as well. If you do this, you will get a much faster, more reliable PC. Go For it!
