i have a Asus gl55vw and did not work but i really dont know ir it works on a Inspiron.

If your laptop came with a Core i7-6500U processor, the associated chipset should support this SSD.

It should work fine. Go to Dell web site support down load manual for your model and at around page 30 it will show you how to install in the M-2 slot. Reboot into BIOS and enable, save exit if you want to clone your old drive Samsung has a program called Data Migration use it to clone your hard drive shut down remove your old hard drive then start back up and you should be booting to your new 950 Pro. After everything is running ok then if you want to use your old drive as a data drive you can format it.
