• This NVMe is only a gen 4 so it wont get too hot. Passive cooling will work but a heatsink isnt a bad idea if youre able to have one for the storage drive. When you get into gen 5 speeds youll definitely need more that passive cooling to keep ot from melting.

• That depends on if your motherboard has a heat plate on it already. If the M.2 slot is open and uncovered then yes, you probably want a heatsink
