“Will it charge a case made of polycarbonate material”

I have a SUPCASE - Unicorn Beetle Pro Series and it charges through it.

Not sure, but it does work with an otterbox defender case (it's a thick 2 piece case) if placed directly on the middle of the charger.

As Long as the Phone or Device meets the Qi Wireless Charging Standard it should charge it. Its not so much the case but does the phone has the needed Qi inductive coil inside the phone to make it work. it works really well & Fast on both my LG and my Wife's Samsung Note 5. Mobile device manufacturers that are working with the standard include Apple, Asus, HTC, Huawei, LG Electronics, Motorola Mobility, Nokia, Samsung, BlackBerry, Xiaomi, and Sony. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qi_(standard)
