• yes and it can try to upscale image to 4K TV but is limited better picture for DVDs. Bluray does better on upscaling and improving picture quality. Regular LCD or LED TV will give 1080p picture quality.

• Yes. It is backwards compatible and the picture quality is nice. Just note, that I have found wireless connection problems with this product.
