“Will this unit become obsolete in 3 yrs and not play blu rays like my previous player. No way to update software in player to accommodate change in blu ray format”

• Since this player get's updated directly through WiFi, it is up to Samsung to send updates. We can only hope.

• This Blu ray player should play all Dvds . I have yet to try 4K Dvds

• Yes. Most probably something will make all DVDs of all formats obsolete in 3 years. 10 years from now the kids will be saying "Daddy... what is a DVD?", much like they now say "what is a floppy disk?". It is unlikely there will ever be another format change though, as we are near end of life for all DVD's.
