Whoops, my previous answer was for wrong product. I think you are fine with the Samsung though. It has upscaling support to already handle 4K TVs, which to me implies that they will play 1080p fine.

Please try again later.To simply answer your question: yes, if your bluray is a 1080p bluray, it will play in this player =) I believe that a 4K TV will be responsible for upscaling the content in your scenario. I speculate, we will see new bluray hardware on the market (if it is not already, for I haven't researched the subject) for playing 4K material, which would natively push that many pixels to your TV via HDMI or whatever.
