Greetings! We are glad to answer your question about the ventilation/exhaust of this Samsung microwave model. This over-the-range model can be installed in one of three ways of ventilation, and I have shared it below. 1. Outside Top Exhaust 2. Recirculating 3. Back Exhaust Once you have installed the microwave model in one of the ways mentioned above, it will remain that way for its ventilation until you reinstall it differently. For example, if the unit had been installed Recirculating, it will remain Recirculating until the microwave is installed either Outside Top Exhaust or Back Exhaust.
