Other brands can be used.  I have an I-phone and it works well.

Hi Dorothy,

The features on this Family Hub fridge can be accessed on any Android and iOS device. A Wi-Fi connection and a Samsung account are required via the SmartThings app.

If the TV is shown in Smart View, it is supported and can connect to the Family Hub. Models that are not supported will not show in the available devices list and will not connect.
