“We really like this fridge, but our fridge space is next to a wall, and we only have 2 1/4 inches to spare. Does anyone have a similar scenario? how far can you open the left door? really bad design to hinge the door like it is.”

Our walls leaves us a space of 39" width and extends out 30". We have no problem opening the doors as we purchased the large size model (actually less expensive than the smaller one) which extends far enough out so as to not interfere with the doors opening. Try moving the fridge out a little.
