“Can a mouse be attached to this? If not, where is the mouse on the keyboard? Is there a usb port? I mainly would be getting the keyboard so my kiddo can more easily do homeschool and she would need to use a mouse.”

There is a thunderbolt USB port but I believe it's only for charging. However, you don't need a mouse because the touch-screen remains active even when you are using the keyboard. The keyboard works pretty well (I'm typing on it now) but it does stutter if you have a heavy touch.

No USB port. If you had a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard, that would work. This is a Bluetooth keyboard only so you would need to buy a mouse.

With the Galaxy tab a 2019 you can only connect 1 Bluetooth device at a time. Your mouse is your finger unfortunately.

I don't think a mouse can be attached to the tablet. I would consult Best Buy where I purchased ours and talk with someone at their customer service desk to see if there might be a work-around.
