Yes the case extends slightly beyond the camera. Phone will lay flat on table and the case stops the lens from touching

It is even with the edge of the camera. So I think its still a possibility to get scratched.

This case adds a little bulk on the back so the camera bump is not exposed but a little recessed inside so the lens module doesn't touch the surface.

Yes, the camera lens is protected. The lip on the case raises the camera module from touching flat surfaces.
