Yes, you can use this phone with Trac. You will need to call Tracphone customer service. (Fyi, there's a metal key that comes with the phone that you have to use to open the sim card and additional memory door, don't loose the mark key). I am using mine with Straight Talk. Yes, you'll need a sim card for any carrier. The battery, you'll need a tech to open the phone or unless you're super techy. The back doesn't come off easily. You can go to YouTube for an example.
