• When I changed from a Galaxy J7 to a Galaxy S8 I had to change the charging cord to type C.

• The J7 uses Micro USB (old school and really slow). I believe S8 and above uses USB type-C, which is a drastic improvement in charging speed and keeps the battery from dying quicker. I just wish it shipped with QI wireless charging, but there are workarounds for that
