“Do they have to be plugged in to charge or can they be charged in the case with out the case being plugged in?”

• As long as the case has been charged, you can charge your earbuds in the case without the case being plugged in. As a matter of fact, the case hold a charge for quit a long time.

• The case charges the buds so if your case has a charge your headphones are charged.

• They are able to be charged either way. I charge mine wirelessly
