You will be able to make phone calls with both buds. They both won at the same time.

Earbuds can work simultaneously when in your ear or separately if you only have one in your ear. I typically only wear them one at a time while at working listening to my music to help with the battery life. I wear the right earbud and leave the left bud in the case and then switch out when the right buds battery is low. Pop the right bud in the case to charge and continue with my music with the left bud
