• Both have to be paired but as you pull them from case they will turn on and work the same.

• I use them 1 at a time when I'm at work. Makes them last all day by doing that. I constantly listen to podcast.

• You can either use one or both. I normally just use one with the other one in the case. They dont turn on until you take them out of the case.
