The Samsung gear (watch) is connected to the Note 3 via Bluetooth so it must be within 30 to 50 feet to connect to the Note 3. However, the gear does have apps / features for runners built into it. I do use the step counter and calorie burn counter on it. It will track that without the phone being near it. So it very well may do what you want. I do use my gear daily and am very happy with it. You do have 15 days to return it to Best Buy if it does not meet your needs. So buy it and try it. You have nothing to loose! If it doesn't do what you want return it, but I think you will love the watch. I also own the note 3 so I understand your concern on size. It is a bit large but I think you can get an arm band that will fit the note 3 as well. Then use it as your health tracker as well as your music player. Which the watch will do as well, though the speaker on the watch isn't as good as using a set of earbuds with the note 3.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No. This watch is an accessory to your device, much like your blue tooth headset. If you are 30 feet or more Away from your phone, the galaxy gear disconnects from your phone
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The gear works in conjunction with note 3, not as a separate device.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, your phone has to be within 100 feet of you or it wont work!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes. You can use the watch without bring the phone along. You can not make calls or text but you can still use the pedometer and all the other features.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, I beleive the maximum feet away you can be is about 50ft.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Once the device moves out of its Bluetooth range, you will lose connection to the Note 3. Therefore, you will not receive message or incoming call notifications until you are back in range with your device. The Gear is an extension of your smartphone. It does not have built in WiFi or 3G/4G radios so that it can act as its own device. It relies heavily on its connection to your smartphone. However, you will still be able to check time, use the camera, and some apps (like the pedometer) that don't require a connection to your phone. Hope this helps.
