The Galaxy Gear uses Bluetooth 4.0. Bluetooth 4.0 carries a max distance rating of 160ft. The Gear will vibrate/ notify you if you have moved out of range of your smartphone!

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The GALAXY Gear has a maximum range of 25 feet outdoors. To attain a range of 200 feet a smart watch would have to be tethered via cellular which would probably drain the battery in a few hours.
