• No you need your phone to link your gear (watch). Same way you use your blue tooth.

• You could wear it as a watch, after pairing it to your phone. However, you will not have any functionality aside from the clock, if you don't have your phone. The Gear is designed as a tool to run in conjunction with your Galaxy. Not a replacement for your phone. I hope that helped.

• You can't the galaxy gear needs your smartphone ' Internet to " pull out " all the notifications and updates of your apps . otherwise it works as a regular watch
