Simply because other than Sprint, most carriers haven't rolled it out yet and stock with the phone is KitKat. On the Sprint model, it will update automatically as soon as you check for a firmware update. Has nothing to do with Bestbuy

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The original firmware is 4.4.4, but back in March, Sprint released 5.0.1 lollipop. Once the update is applied when you activate the phone you'll have 5.0.1 or higher.
