“When purchasing this through a carrier, is the device already activated on the AT&T network at the store or is that something to do outside the store? Also, is it more beneficial to buy this on carrier or unlocked?”

Yes, it comes activated and ready for the carrier. One of the benefits of getting an unlocked device is that it’s easier to sell afterwards. And most times the updates come earlier then carrier based phones.

Please try again later.Buying unlocked is nice if you travel internationally, otherwise, don't waste your money bc when you go to sell the unlocked phone is the same value as the carrier phone. Shop promotions from the carrier and BB because they will match offers. Seems to be that BB tends to have the better offers and the higher trade in values.
