Yes, I used it in Canada last month without any trouble. You have to watch out for high data roaming fees, but that is the same no matter which phone you get.

I have AT&T, I have a plan that covers Canada and the USA. It has a discount for phone calls to and from Canada. When I arise in Canada I am switched over to the Rodgers Network System, then back to AT&T when I come back to the states. They also have other international packages to chose from. So check with your cell provider to see what is available.
