  • QuestionWill this phone work with Spectrum mobile?

    Asked by Miss9.

    • Answer Hello, The unlocked S22 will work with Spectrum Mobile. I literally just purchased this exact model two weeks ago- unlocked - from Best Buy. I also have Spectrum Mobile. You will need to get a new sim card from Spectrum via one of their retail stores. Steer clear of the Spectrum location on Fayetteville Rd in Lumberton, NC. Since I work in Lumberton I popped into that location to get my service moved from my S8 to my new S22. I was told my phone was not compatible. It was a 2-hour nightmare. The staff gave me a sheet of paper and told me first that they couldn't do it. I would have to call their support line listedon the sheet I was given and to follow the printed instructions. I work in IT and I am always troubleshooting situations. Something inside told me I am about to jump through unnecessary hurdles. I went to my truck (parked next to this Spectrum office) and called the number. The agent on the phone told me I needed a new sim card and she also stated the agent in the store could have moved my service. So, I asked if she would be my guide and stay on the phone with me. She was more than happy to do so. I went back in the store and approached the same agent. I also stated I have a Spectrum agent on the phone (I was using my work cell phone for that call - freeing up my personal S22 phone). The in-house agent tapped on her keyboard and later said, "This phone is not compatible." I had my work phone in speaker mode and the agent on the phone was professional and stated, "His phone is compatible because I checked the IMEI number on it already." The phone agent stated that I was to be given a replacement sim card too. The in-house staff member refused to do it, stating I couldn't leave the store with the sim card not being activated. Well, it turned into a mess. The in-house Spectrum agent ended up pairing a new sim card to my S8, which already had working service. That was not the goal at hand and that lady was simply not paying attention. I walked over to the manager, explained the situation, and the Spectrum agent on the phone stated to him what needed to be done. He, too, would not let me leave the store with another replacement sim card. So, I expressed I would just sit on their makeshift couch of theirs and let the lady on the phone do her magic. The plot thickened. The lady on the phone stated that someone in the store is still actively viewing my account, thus, she couldn't make the required changes. I walked up to the first agent I had spoken with, explained the scenario, and she claimed she was not in my account. It took 3 more attemps to get that agent at her station to verify she was not in my account. The agent on the phone told me to get the manager. The manager was then told to check that computer station to verify my account was not being accessed. He said it is not open. That was wrong. The Spectrum agent on the phone had to educate the manager on how to log out of their own system and restart it. He was clueless on how to do it. Finally, the Spectrum agent on the phone could make the changes to my account and move my service to the new sim card. I remained cool, calm, and collective throughout this entire event. The Spectrum agent on the phone even expressed that my customer service as the customer was exceptional. Hey, kill them with kindness I always say. To add some icing on this event, I walked up to the Spectrum agent who stated my phone was incompatible and said, "I just want to thank you for your assistance and to let you know the agent on the phone has successfully moved my service to my S22. In summary, the answer to your question is "yes." I only added the back-story for my situation so that you can be prepared in the event you run into the same scenario. If I didn't have the Spectrum agent with me on the phone, I would have instinctly went back to Best Buy stating they had sold me the wrong phone - not being unlocked. I would have looked stupid in the long run. So, tread caredully with the transitioning of your Spectrum service to your S22. Hopefully, I have provided helpful information. C. Malone Fayetteville, NC.
