what difference from 4g to 4 g lte null

All 4 major carriers claims the have '4G LTE' data, yet Verizon is hitting 99% of the country with 50MBPS DL speed (for example), whereas Sprint is hitting 50% of the country with 5MBPS DL speeds. They both are claiming 4G LTE, but are vastly different in their approaches.

The only difference is the way that the phone gets to 4G speeds.
