The $27 per month is for the physical phone only. The monthly service fee still applies. We pay $130 per month for a shared 32GB data plan, with unlimited calls and texts. I am now paying $27 per month on top of that for my Galaxy S6, but I no longer have a 24 month contract in place. So if I want to walk away from Sprint 6 months from now, I pay what is left on the phone and it is mine to keep when I move to my new carrier. :-)

You are basically getting a phone for $0 down, 0% interest with your good credit. You are financing the phone for free in addition to whatever smartphone plan you choose.
