That is exactly what I did. As long as you are due for an upgrade, you should be good.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I THINK I did. Stayed with Sprint, renting the phone per month by contract, much as before. Had to give back my Note 4, which I really wanted to keep just for back up and for its camera features. While the first blush came when I was told I could save $30 a month over my old plan, that paled by the time we were finished with the entire transaction. Still about $190 a month for two phones. Sprint isn't going to really give you anything, in spite of its problems status wise in the industry. If you want to lower your monthly costs, you are going to have to lower your features. By the way, Sprint now says it wants to try to get out 1 gig per second by end of this year ('16). I wouldn't for a minute believe Sprint is going to just upgrade me without saying of course it will be an additional charge. I'm fine with what I have now.

I have Sprint too and I purchased mine as an upgrade to an S7Edge paying only the upgrade fee $50, tax (about $80) and activation fee $30....compared to the hefty $800 price tag for buying it outright. If you do decide to buy it outright, Sprint will most likely be happy to provide you with another SIM card without charge so you can use your current phone's service. Don't let them demand you purchase another contract. Having said that, trust me, when you get your S7Edge, you will be running not walking to get rid of your old phone. The fact that an early upgrade is allowed and encouraged is unprecedented. Sprint is actually doing something for its customers and this should not be overlooked my friend, trust me, this won't happen again soon...don't miss out. You might want to take a look at my review of my S7Edge.
