The newer phones are unlocked. so if you go to best buy now, ask them for the unlocked version

I did this and because of the highly anticipated and potentially crowded best buys on the release day of 4/21, my Best Buy is going to assign a time for me to come in, set up and pick up the phone on 4/21 in attempts to reduce chaos and control quantities. The phones released on 4/21 will be carrier locked. Unlocked versions are anticipated to be released between May 6-9 at Best Buy.
