You should be able to purchase the phone (S8) and go into your Verizon store (not a retailer!) and have them activate your new phone with your current number and plan provided that your plan is compatible with your phone. The S8 is 4G so if you currently have a phone only plan it will not be compatible. Talk to your service provider first.
