“I am currently ATT. Want to shift to Verizon using this offer. BB says they will still apply the 30$ activation fee even though I am changing carriers and shouldn't be needing one. Has anyone else faced this? and got the 30$ back?”

It's only $30.00 :-) You can also try going into a Verizon Store to see if they will assist. I've been very happy with Verizon's service and in-store support.
