Yes, this bothers me also. The price of the phone is around $600. It is unlocked, but if the price is around $450, the deal is that Verizon wants to pressure you into going with them. The $150 difference will be recouped by Verizon in only 4 months and $40 a month. This may be a post-paid arrangement meaning there will be a hard inquiry on you credit report. As for me, I would rather pay the full $600 price and keep my credit score intact. Check the web page and see if there is also another price just for the phone only without any activation with Verizon. Also go prepaid to avoid a hit on your credit.
