• Directly from Samsung, Traditionally, those same unlocked smartphones receive software updates before carriers. In theory, unlocked phones are a win for consumers and a win for the device manufacturer. Thanks

• I bought the unlocked phone so I could keep existing Verizon plan. So, I am still with Verizon and assume updates through them. Had I bought directly from Verizon, they would have changed my plan into a more expensive plan plus charge to activate new phone.
