There are differences in the US models and those of other regions, but that mainly has to do with the exact transmission bands that they are designed to work with. The US-unlocked models will best work with the bands that are common to our country and are regulated by the FCC, but in Europe, there are different ones that are allocated for cell phone use. There is a lot of cross-over, but you would want to contact the service provider you expect to use to be sure about how much coverage you can expect. I hope this clears up the situation for you, and you can buy the device that will best suit your needs.
