No, the Tab 3 does not function as a phone. For larger screens, check out the Samsung Note, which is a Tablet and Phone together. Thanks for your interest in Samsung products. --Mr.Samsung
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It is not a phone. When activated, the carrier assigns it a number but calls and texts to and from this number are not possible. However it can be used as a phone with VOIP service through any of the apps that allow this functionality. The "phone" service requires a data connection, be that through the mobile data (LTE) or WiFi.
