Can apple itunes be downloaded into this tablet? I just purchased the Microsoft surface 2 and to my surprise and disappointment I learned it was never equipped to allow apple iTunes onto my device.

Microsoft and apple are competitors. They will never allow this to happen. If you need to use itunes, you will need to purcahse an apple product.

No at the smartphone/tablet level itunes is exclusive to apple products. You can download google play music on your mac/pc and upload your itunes music to the cloud. You can gain access to your music via the web or the google play music app which runs on apple/android products.

This is an android tablet, iTunes is not available for this device. For mobile devices, only apple products support iTunes.
