Our kids use it as well. The tablet itself doesn't have a static "kids mode" program, but there are apps available that will allow you to set them up as users (actually, there's one called Kids Mode; there's also Amazon FreeTime, others like that).
We pretty much set ours up on the Kids Mode app, and then they feel like they have their own identity (aka login) and app pool.
IF you're looking for one exclusively for the kids to use, I would highly recommend the Amazon Fire 7" with FreeTime. Much more powerful controls.

Kind of, you can add a user with a restricted profile which allows limited access to apps and content.
