I just use my wifi. I do not know why or how you would connect it to a phone.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You only need to purchase a tablet through your cell service provider if you want to access the internet when there is no wifi network available. Providers typically charge you extra (maybe $10 per month) to add a tablet to your current plan. I purchased my tablet primarily to use kids apps and to watch movies on the go. The kids apps don't usually need an internet connection and most movies can be downloaded directly to the device. You'll need to purchase external storage if you want to store a lot of movies on your tablet. Hope this helps!!

If you want to use this on the go, you will need to log into a shared wifi such as a coffee place or book store, or somewhere that advertises free wifi- be careful though, hacking is easier when connecting to public wifi. If you wanted to use this on the go, without free/public wifi, you would need to establish a carrier service, such as a cellphone company. Check with your internet provider as well. They have options for on the go internet use. This devise can be used offline, however, for things like word processing, reviewing pictures, videos, games or e- books, from the internal memory.

If you want to be able to use this on cellular network you will have to purchase an enabled device(4G LTE) through your carrier (AT&T)or Best Buy Mobile kiosk. Cellular enable devices will require a rate plan that is purchased with your device. Maybe try the Samsung S2 or a hotspot enable smartphone to share and connect the Tab A via wireless. Also, look to see if it is 4g LTE ready and this question appeared under the wrong device(Samsung Tab A).
