The model with the S Pen is different hardware. The pen requires the specific digitizer in this tablet to work, the regular 9.7 model will not recognize the pen. This model also has 2GB of RAM while the regular 9.7 Tab A has 1.5 GB.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Not sure about any software, but I have both tabs w/ and w/o. The Tab A w/o does not work with the pen, and the Tab A w/ recognizes when you detach the pen from the slot in the top right corner of the tablet. Best Buy also offers the Platinum TAB A covers specifically for the Tab A w/ Pen. Hope this helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The S Pen Will only work with a phone or tablet if the model was built for it, meaning that you cant just buy one and expect it to work. The Device Must have the hardware interface built in for the S pen to work.
Sorry, there was a problem. A lot of people like the bamboo smart too because it's a lot bigger than the s pen and actually feels more like a pen.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.the model with the S pen has a slot to store the S pen. it automatically displays available apps that you can use with the S pen when you remove it from the slot. haven't had time to explore it but i like that it is self storing. i was told the tablet would beep when it is far from the S pen to prevent you from losing it but i haven't tried that feature. you can use any stylus pen to tap and launch apps in any tablet but i don't know if it will allow you to write and save notes or draw that this tablet allows. for ease of access and the self storing feature, i like it with the S pen.
