The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2, like most Samsung tablets and phones, has the ability to have an app loaded that will work with many residential Samsung televisions. That being said, I am the Chief Engineer at a major hotel chain and have been in this business many years at several different hotels. Most hotels use a third party proprietary video system that works strictly with their own remote controls. There are a few that will use Direct TV or another system that has a downloadable remote, but these are far and few between. I only know of one third party video provider that had a downloadable app for their remote. While we, and some companies are trying to move forward with the technology, most rely on hotels having to continue purchasing their remotes. At my hotel, we wind up purchasing 60 to 100+ remotes each year. Multiply that by $30 a remote and hundreds of hotels and you realize why they want to maintain control. There is simply no single app that will work for all systems and televisions. It is just easier to use what the hotel gives you in the room. Until such time as something better, and cheaper for hotels comes along, this is the way it will be. Hopefully soon, with the expanding amount of internet television, it will change. Then we can all be a lot happier. I hope this helps.
