The S3 has larger screen with a higher resolution that can be seen from nearly 180 degree (OLED based) the tab A screen is much lower resolution and does not offer the off angle viewing of the S3. The S3 has a faster processor and is slightly thinner, the Tab A is probably more "rugged" (better for kids if you don't get a case). The S3 has a newer OS and is likely to stay up to date, while the Tab A is unlikely to get an upgrade. The S3 starts with twice as much memory and has a faster graphics processor comes with a stylus and costs more than twice as much. For me the screen quality makes all the difference, but I'm not very price sensitive. Decisions, decisions.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Tab 3 is way better but for casual tablet use the Tab A would be fine. I thought that I wouldn't use the pen either but I was wrong. I adds more uses to my tablet that I didn't realize I would use.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I bought the S3 because it has a better camera which is 13 MP. My Samsung phone has 16 MP camera & takes great pictures. The Tab A I returned because the pictures were fuzzy as that camera is only 8 MP
