From what I know of the S9 series it's the S9+ that you can draw illustrations on, not this one.

Yes, absolutely! I use if for math and physics, and I'm drawing diagrams and equations all the time, and you can use all kinds of backgrounds and colors to accentuate. Very flexible and easy to use. There are also more app options for drawing than with apple. The pen is also better. It's smooth and soft with pressure sensitivity, vs the apple pen which makes a tapping sound each time you touch the screen and is slippery and hard. You can see the line being drawn right under the pen, vs a gap between the screen and image on the iPad.
