The key board is attached to the "case" the tablet is separate except if you set the tablet up to use with the keyboard.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes. The screen stays attached to the keyboard backing through magnets, and the keyboard case will completely fold over backward. But I don't know why you'd want to do this, as the tablet is easily removable from the keyboard cover, and is much easier to manage that way. Remember, this is a 12" device.

However, the case magnets that attach to the tablet is strong enough you can have the keyboard folded all the way back with out the case falling off and use it comfortably in tablet mode.
