If you have a Samsung cell phone and set the notifications to "detailed" the circle will notify you when you have an incoming text message and read it to you. If you select "limited" notification, you will just hear "you have a text message" or something along those lines. You can use speech to text to send text messages via S voice.

No, you only hear the notification for incoming. If you have voice recognition enabled, you can text back using the headset

If you can do it without a headset, meaning that your phone can do it with hands free then yes. the headset is just an extension of the MIC and Ear piece.

Not that I know of but if you have it connected to your Note 4, it will tell you when you receive incoming text, email messages. Perhaps if you change the setting on your phone, it will read it for you.
